Knowledge Exam: Monday - Friday 10 am - 4 pm, Office closes at 5 pm

1. DOL PRE-APPLICATION
Fill out the DOL Pre-Application with the DOL (Free). Be prepared to log in when you come to Driving 101 to take your Knowledge Exam.
If you have any of the following WA documents make sure to say YES you have a WA Driving Record: DOL #, ID Card, Permit, License, or have had a ticket in WA state. When you log in use the exact name birthday and address that is shown on your Washington state ID.
If you have never done anything with the DOL say no you do not have a driving record. |

2. DOL KNOWLEDGE EXAM
$40 Knowledge Exam for the first attempt, $35 for all additional attempts ($25 for Driving 101 students)

Knowledge Exams are offered in seven different languages: English, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese!

Only use the Practice Test as a guide. Please study the Driver Guide. All the test questions come from the Driver Guide.

Once you pass your Knowledge Exam you can go to the DOL to get a WA Permit Issued. Or if you are over 18 years old you are eligible to schedule your Skills Exam to obtain a Driver License.
3A Get a Permit to practice
No matter how old you are you must have a valid Driving Permit or Driver License to legally practice on the road.
3B DOL SKILLS EXAM - ALL EXAMS ARE IN A DRIVERS ED CAR
$65 Skills Exam each attempt or
($40 for Driving 101 students) You must pass the Knowledge Test before you can schedule a Drive Exam.
You can pay for your drive exam and we will call you to schedule. Make sure to include your name, WDL#, and best phone number to call to schedule your appointment. |
Note-
-If you are under 18 years old you must pass a Traffic Safety Course, have held your driving permit for six months, and be at least 16 years old before applying for a drivers license.
-Passing the Knowledge and Skills teams does not guarantee that an applicant will be issued a driver license. The Department of Licensing will determine if an applicant has met all licensing requirements.

4. GO TO THE DOL TO GET YOUR LICENSE PRINTED
License eligibility for people under 18 years old:
- Be at least 16 years old with a passing WA State Approved Traffic Safety Education Course
- hold a permit for 6 month
- have 50 hours of practice
- Passing Knowledge score less then 2 years old
- Passing Skills scores less then 1 year old
